Gloria in D major, RV 589 (Vivaldi, Antonio)
Please note that we will be using the Ricordi score, and that the material below may differ from this slightly: for example the number of bars in certain movements may be reduced or increased.
There is an excellent public domain score in the IMSLP Petrucci library courtesy of Helmut Kickton at the Bad Kreuznach, Germany.
MIDI practice files
There are some useful midi practice files at Learn Choral Music due to the painstaking hard work of John Hooper, (email: MUSIC@THEH00PERS.DEM0N.C0.UK ) who has written other such practice files which we have used
There is a file for each number and with each part (SATB) emphasised to help you practice, so save them to your computer or tablet, and play them on its sound card or using your electronic keyboard.
Perhaps even better than the above MIDI file library is the practice material to be found at www.choralia.net, which was recommended to me by Jane. All parts of all choral numbers are available both as MP3 audio files and as VS - Virtual singer files (needs a special plug in). Furthermore, the individual part files are also available as (i) the particular voice (eg S-A-T or B) with organ accompaniment and a metronome (b) that voice emphasised but with other voices available - no metronome and (c) the whole work for SATB - no particular voice emphasis. The vocoder-like rendition of the voices means that the actual words are reproduced - a big plus.
Please see http://www.choralia.net/vv01mp3/ for the Vivaldi Gloria RV589.
Well done Jane for recommending this to us.
